World War III
In the World War III 1x map, the United States is a country that starts off with 10 cities and 136 victory points, the third largest. It consists of the 48 contiguous states, Alaska, and Hawaii. In the World War 2020 map, the cities it starts off with are Houston, New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Hawaii. In the World War 3 map, the cities it starts off with are (left to right) Hawaii, Anchorage, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis, New Orleans, Chicago, Washington D.C., and New York. Its immediate neighbors are Canada to the north, Mexico and Cuba to the south.
Pros:
- 10 cities on 1x maps, 9 cities on 4x maps gives the USA the best economy long-term in homeland production with well-placed centers.
- Owing to its tremendously beneficial positioning being cross-continental in North America, with only 3 nations (Canada, Mexico, Cuba) in immediate reach early-game. This is a minor amount of threats in comparison with other major nations and can give options to the player on where they would prefer to expand across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans in the mid-late game.
Cons:
- With being a large coast-to-coast nation, this negatively effects morale for cities further away from the H.Q in Washington D.C. Especially for cities such as Hawaii and Anchorage on the World War 3 map.
- 9 coastal cities or 8 on 4x maps across the West and East of the country means building a navy is top-priority if the player does not want their cities so easily captured through amphibious assaults, this also means that the players navy will usually be more spread out than other nations.
Flashpoint Europe
In the Flashpoint Europe map, only the East Coast of the United States is shown.
